Area of activity

Industry & Technology
Industrial and technological development is one of the priority project areas of the Foundation. Work in this area has been underway since 2010s, when the Foundation implemented the Long-Term Industrial and Technological Foresight for the Russian Federation project, commissioned by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The project resulted in identification of the key groups of technologies and areas for upgrading of industrial technology, development of which is a factor influencing competitiveness of the national industry. These include new materials, computer engineering, industrial design, additive and modular manufacturing and others. At present the Foundation activities are focused on high-tech markets research and formation of the new industrial policy agenda.

Spatial Development
Sustainable development of territories is one of the key tasks at all levels of power: from federal districts to small industrial clusters. The spatial development is aimed at improving investment climate and socio-economic conditions in a particular area. The Center for Strategic Research" North-West" Foundation has vast experience in elaboration of strategies and programs for development of particular areas and regions.

The Agenda
As а Russian think tank, the Center for Strategic Research "North-West" sets the actual development agenda for the Russian Federation and regions, and initiates discussion on a wide range of issues related to socio-economic and technological development.
The Foundation organizes numerous events and activities, including international status events across the Russian Federation and creates conditions for knowledge and competency flow in expert circles, for emergence of new ideas and suggestions for further development of economic sectors, areas and regions of Russia.

Human capital
Human capital development is a cross-cutting theme of the Foundation research activity. Relevance of the topic is determined by importance of human resources for efficient functioning of knowledge economy and innovation-based growth, especially in light of the demographic crisis. Application-oriented research in human capital is represented by projects of all scales, from modernization of the education system and higher education, including the task of improving its competitiveness, to conceptualization of the development of different groups of universities or strategic development of specific educational institutions. The Foundation research interests also include social development trends, health industry, consumer trends.
